Through the development of different history, Chinese classical dance and Western contemporary dance established their unique dance forms, movements, methodologies, and theories. Under the exchange and integration of modernist, Chinese classical dance and Western contemporary dance inevitably start to collide and release potential for creativities and innovations.

The Circling is an exploration of using the way of breath from Tai Chi to integrate the elements and movements from both dance. Moving in a circle is the foundation and symbolic movement in Tai Chi, which is also the representations and metaphor of the essence of the harmonious between nature, world, and universe. It also influenced where dancers placed in the space. It is an exploration of creating choreographic material through the combination of Chinese classical dance and Western contemporary dance technique.
